It’s with immense pride and honour I write this message to inaugurate the intakes 2025 of Master of Agriculture, Master of Philosophy in Agriculture, and Postgraduate Diploma in Rural Development postgraduate programs of the Faculty of Agriculture, Rajarata University of Sri Lanka. Despite the recent turmoil in the country, the faculty created its history by completing all the former intakes of these degree programmes well on time assuring its roadmap of becoming a centre of excellence in producing innovative and dynamic graduates with sound knowledge and requisite skills towards achieving a sustainable development in agriculture over the last two decades.

The Faculty of Agriculture Rajarata University of Sri Lanka is home for a vibrant and talented community of academia who have excelled in all fields of specialization within the broad discipline of agriculture. This spirit is seen in the recently introduced Master of Agriculture (MAgri) degree programme of the faculty. The professionals and graduates seeking to advance their knowledge and skills in modern fields of agriculture are attracted to this degree programme. The faculty set another milestone by introducing Master of Philosophy in Agriculture and Postgraduate Diploma in Rural Development postgraduate programs on its 20th anniversary celebrations. These new postgraduate programmes are expected to contribute to the country’s journey towards achieving sustainable development in agriculture. I am particularly appreciative of the Faculty of Agriculture for keeping all these programmes affordable while maintaining high standards of quality.

All these programmmes are designed in par with the guidelines established by the Quality Assurance Council of the University Grant Commission of Sri Lanka that provide multiple parallel entries to the programmes. Provisions are given for credit transfers, early-exit and fallback options are defined for all postgraduate programmes. This handbook gives you information and advice to make your higher education pathway in the Faculty of Agriculture, RUSL an easier and a happier one. I am certain that this guide will help you to plan your postgraduate education journey from the commencement to the conclusion. Hence, I urge you to take the maximum advantage of all the pillars of the faculty.

I wish all the best for your future career…!

Prof. (Mrs.) G.A.S. Ginigaddara
