Postgraduate Programmes of the Faculty of Agriculture, Rajarata University of Sri Lanka are designed to address the emerging challenges in agriculture and related disciplines while equipping graduates and professionals with advanced knowledge, research skills, and practical expertise.

Our postgraduate portfolio spans across multiple disciplines, reflecting the faculty’s commitment to academic excellence and innovation. Each programme has been carefully structured to meet national needs and align with global trends, ensuring that our graduates are well prepared to contribute meaningfully to both local and international contexts.

At present, the faculty offers a range of established postgraduate programmes, including the Master of Agriculture, Master of Science in Agroecology, Postgraduate Diploma in Rural Development, Master of Philosophy, and Doctor of Philosophy. These programmes cater to both professionals and aspiring researchers, and over the years have produced a strong network of alumni who continue to contribute significantly to academia, industry, and policy development both in Sri Lanka and abroad.

The faculty maintains strong collaborations with leading local and international universities, research institutes, and development agencies. These partnerships create opportunities for joint research, student exchange, and exposure to cutting-edge knowledge, enriching the academic experience of our postgraduate students.

Situated in the heart of Sri Lanka’s dry zone, our faculty benefits from a unique locational advantage. The surrounding farming landscapes and agroecological diversity provide a living laboratory for field-based learning, experimentation, and research. This setting allows students to integrate theoretical knowledge with real-world applications, making our programmes both relevant and impactful.
I warmly invite aspiring scholars and professionals to join our postgraduate community, where academic rigor meets practical relevance. Together, we can shape a future of sustainable agriculture and rural development.
